New NKDEP Booklet Presents Basics of CKD
The National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP) has published an easy-to-read booklet titled Chronic Kidney Disease: What Does it Mean for Me? The booklet presents the basics of chronic kidney disease (CKD) using a question-and-answer format. Intended for a reader who has recently been diagnosed with CKD, the booklet explains how the kidneys keep the body healthy and how kidney damage may affect a person’s life, including the need for dialysis or transplantation. Readers will learn how blood and urine tests measure how well the kidneys are working. The booklet also provides lifestyle changes that can help stop or slow the progression of CKD.
